Hi! My name is Kristi Prince and I am excited to be a part of the LocalParent team!
What can I say – I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY. Born and raised in Cobourg, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to return to Northumberland to set up my medical practice. To be able to share my passion for health and wellness as a Naturopathic Doctor is truly a dream come true. I believe in empowering others through health education, equipping them with the tools to make long-term sustainable changes.
What is a Naturopathic Doctor?
Naturopathic doctors are primary care practitioners who use a wide variety of therapies to treat, support and uncover the root cause of an individual’s health concerns. The focus of naturopathic care is centered on the individual, their current health (physical, emotional and spiritual), family history, as well as lifestyle choices. These factors collectively inform the diagnosis and treatment plan which incorporates a variety of modalities (nutrition and lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, and physical medicine).
In my private practice I enjoy working with families to address a variety of chronic health conditions such as high cholesterol, thyroid dysfunction, digestive concerns, and conditions pertaining to mental health. My real passion lies in treating women’s health, with further training in managing women’s health concerns, menstrual issues, menopause, fertility, and gynecology. I also provide lactation support and am working towards completing my certification to become a registered lactation consultant.
What do I love most about being a Naturopathic Doctor?
EVERYTHING! I love practicing medicine the way I believe it was meant to be – with integrity, empathy, and compassion – focusing on the individualized needs of the patient. I love being able to spend the time with my patients, getting to know their individual circumstances and predictors of health, in order to get to the root cause of what ails them. As Patch Adams would say: “you treat a disease – you win, you lose. You treat a person – you will win no matter what the outcome.” Naturopathic Medicine is sustainable, preventative health care.
I believe that healthy communities start from building healthy families. Over the next several months I am looking forward to sharing my expertise with you, while also getting to know you and your family.
Yours in Health,
Dr. Kristi Prince, H.BSc.Kin (Hons), ND
